FILING FEES
The fees for filing a new bankruptcy case vary by the chapter of the bankruptcy code under which it is filed:
Chapter 7 - $299
Chapter 13 - $274
Chapter 11 - $1039
By law, the filing fee must be paid and generally cannot be waived. If you are unable to pay the full filing fee at the time you file your bankruptcy petition, you may file an application to pay the filing fee in installments. This option is available only to individuals. Corporations and partnerships must pay the filing fee in full. You will receive an order from the Court specifying the amounts of the installment payments and the dates on which they are due. It is extremely important that you make the payments as ordered since your case can be dismissed for non-payment of the full filing fee.
The installment payments may be made in person or by mail. Personal checks are not accepted. Payment must be made by cash in person or by money order or cashier's check made payable to "Clerk, U.S. Bankruptcy Court". Please do not send cash through the mail.
