Judge Gunn advises the bar of the following:
1. General Order 2022-03. Effective January 1, 2023, all hearings before the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Columbia will be in a hybrid format, conducted both via Zoom for Government and in-person in Courtroom 1. The General Order sets forth the requirements and expectations for hearing decorum going forward in 2023. Hearings previously scheduled for dates in 2023 need not be re-noticed. Language as to the hybrid nature of hearings going forward in 2023 shall be included in all hearing notices going forward. General Order 2022-03 is available here: https://www.dcb.uscourts.gov/sites/dcb/files/General%20Order%202022-03.pdf.
2. GovDelivery. The United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Columbia is migrating to the use of GovDelivery to manage communications with the general public and bar of this Court. Parties interested in receiving updates from the Court should subscribe at https://www.uscourts.gov/email-updates. The list of bankruptcy courts maintained by the US Courts is not in alphabetical order, you will need to scroll down to the bottom of the list (search by District of Columbia for faster access). Commencing in early 2023, all correspondence from the Court will be through the GovDelivery platform and the regular email messages from the Court through the current messaging platform will cease.
3. The Court is pleased to announce the members of the Bench-Bar Local Rules Committee. Hon. Elizabeth Gunn, chair; Angela Caesar, Clerk; Michael Freeman, UST Representative; Rebecca A. Herr, Chapter 13 Trustee; Felicia Battista, President of the BADC Bankruptcy Section; Jon Farnum, Walter Chandler Inns of Court Chair; Kermit Rosenberg, 1 year term ending 1/1/2024; Justin Fasano, 1 year term ending 1/1/2024; Jackson Toof, 2 year term ending 1/1/2025; and Maurice VerStandig, 2 year term ending 1/1/2025. Judge Gunn thanks each of these individuals for their willingness to serve on this new standing committee and encourages members of the bar to reach out to members of the committee with any comments or suggestions for the Court.
